Sardinia and Corse by Motorcycle

I went on this totally unplanned adventure to Sardinia and Corse Islands, the absolute dream spots for motorcycle enthusiasts in Europe. Over 4000 km of mind-blowing twists and turns, and let me tell you, the views were straight-up breathtaking. I did it all in March, right when winter was still lingering around in Europe. The weather gods were totally on my side, except for a couple of gusty w...
8 years on a motorcycle - The Recap

Here's a short video that will take you on a journey through my last 8 years on the road. From exploring Australia and the Americas, to spending 2 years in Greece during Covid and attending a couple of KTM events in Europe in 2022, it's been an amazing ride. Now, I must confess that there's still a lot of content left to share. I mean, I've got some epic footage of North Europe that I just have...
Is it worth buying the new KTM 1290??!
Переглядів 10 тис.Рік тому
Which one is better between the new KTM 1290 Super Adventure S and the KTM 1190 Adventure? Is it worth the upgrade? I put the two bikes side by side, after an extensive testing, and these are my conclusions The gap between the 2 models is almost 10 years but there's a lot more than just time between the two bikes, despite having pretty much the same LC8 engine. Watch till the end for an extra w...
New KTM 890 Adventure tested on an Epic 3000 km Road Trip
Переглядів 22 тис.Рік тому
I took the new KTM 890 Adventure, while still under embargo, and rode in all secrecy from Austria to Portugal, to attend the bike launch. I had only 7 days to ride 3000 km across Europe and make it through some harsh winter conditions. I got the chance to try the motorcycle on all terrains and in all weather conditions. Great bike as always, similar to the 2020 model, but with much-improved aer...

Took my beloved Bronte, with whom I travelled the world for the past 5 years, to the KTM workshop in Munderfing, Austria, for a total rebuild. Bike rolled in with 190000km and some "battle scars" here and there. The KTM technicians took incredible care of it and brought it back to a nearly new state. Thanks KTM ! more info: IG: paolocattaneophoto

Keep up the UA-cam videos! I dont have instagram anymore so it’s nice to see your videos on here!
Thank you! Will do! I haven’t posted much on ig lately…for obvious reasons
Glad for the new video. High quality as usual.
Much appreciated! Thanks mate
It's good to know you're doing well. 👍
Trying to get back on my feet mate
Great review. I have the Mitas on my GS adv. Planning to buy the Shinko now.
Good choice!
Has anyone figured out a nice way to remove the inner needle bearing race from the balance shaft? I'd like to replace the whole bearing.
Not without removing the whole thing… If only
Great video Paolo - thank you! Lots of experience with my preferred ride - KTM!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment, mate! 🙏
It must be terrifying staying late night in Uluru
It was great! Very quite and mysterious
How much it cost you travelling around Australia?
Depends where you sleep and what you eat. If you camp and shop at supermarket, 1/3 of what you would spend living in a big city one month.
Thanks for the great info. The music is annoying.
Sorry about that. Noted!
This probably goes against the tips in this YT video on travelling light, but years ago in my long distance commutes over several days, I ALWAYS carried a shoulder bag, that rested on the fuel tank, full of basic amusements. A couple of handheld (academic) computer games 📱; radio 📻 ; portable chess set ♟ with checkers, too; a couple of books 📕; pack of cards 🃏; note book and pencil 📝; etc. Not enough thought is given to basic entertainment until a rider is trapped somewhere due to mechanical trouble or torrential rain, etc.
Absolutely. Everybody has his own style of travelling. There are no fixed rules. Most people these days would use a phone or a tablet for all things entertainment but cards and a small chess set could go a long way especially in a hostel or being stuck with somebody for days. Notebook is a great idea too. I ve filled up several of those 👍
@@PaoloCattaneo Thanks for the polite and thoughtful response. Here in Australia mobile phone coverage can be somewhat variable. So I would recommend at least a few small off grid devices that are economical with batteries 🪫. Still recommended is my 1980s Franklin WordMaster dictionary and games, where batteries last and last but the contrast can be upped to get the last bit of power out of them. Brilliantly engineered for its time. Glad to hear also from someone who still thinks there’s a place for the old fashioned note pad and pen/pencil.
Is a permit still necessary for flying on Galapagos or can you fly a 249g drone like Mini 4 Pro there?
You need a permit i think. This was long time ago, so things may have changed since then
Thank you for the thorough review, well done. Nothing better than to hear from somebody who has realy used the tires in different conditions. Just happen to find you on the channel, I reckon I am a bit late. Planning a trip solo to Iceland from Italy (so a lot of tarmac) and some gravel roads when there, but nothing very aggressive as I do not have the skills. Riding a Tiger 900. Uncertain between Anakee Adventure, Mitas E07 and Shink0 705. What would be your pick? Money is not an issue. Grazie mille e buona strada!
As you ll hit mostly tarmac, i would go for mitas, tkc 80 rocks or the new heidenau k 60. These last ones will last you a lifetime
Grazie.
Good tips. Travel light, travel far, enjoy the ride. Less gear, for me, means more time riding and exploring.
That s exactly the point. 🙂👍
Looks like a fantastic day
It was!
MOTOZ TRACTIONATOR GPS... BEST TRACTION AND SUPER MILEAGE ON MY SUPER TENERE. DON'T WASTE MONEY ON MITAS E07 DAKARS. THEY WERE TERRIBLE.
Great video. I have most of that covered, but need to get out more with it. Thanks and be safe.
Thanks 👍
For the moving motorcyclists I agree on the tent. Quick up, quick down, small. 4lbs/2kg, maybe 7lb/3kg. I use economy 2 person tents, and replace them every 3-4 years. If you bike to one location and stay there a week...then a bigger or fancier tent....but usually I set up in a new spot each night as I'm riding to new areas. At most two nights. Better to focus on the sleep kit. Uncomfortable cold sleeping will make exerything bad.
Agree 100% 🙂👍
8 years on the road?! holy shit...Extremely jealous! How do you afford it?
There a whole debate about it on reddit if you search for it on iama. Long story short, skip a meal, sleep wherever and travel in cheap countries.
You are doing a great job, your videos are very interesting. Thanks ❤️🔥🔥👌😎
Thanks Mat! I appreciate your comment
just got back o some old videos and found back yours. 6'18" is still the best advice new comers could get ;) Even for myself as reorganizing gears for next trip. KISS keep it simple stupid ;) wake up call again is always needed
Absolutely! Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately we tend to overthink…about everything but at the end we really don’t need much. I appreciate your support mate. 🙂👍
Liked the trio of videos Paolo..its time i got back to travelling. Great to see you back in the saddle and healthy.
Thanks mate. I try! I m definitely keen to go back out there! 🙂 thanks for the support
like the minimal what you need. food and comfort are extra.
Unless you decide to stay for one week in one spot, you don’t need much to spend the night comfortably
Fuel bladder is a nice one
Definitely. And water bladder too
Thank you for taking the time to shoot this video. Fine work. No attempt to 'sell' the products. Just what works for you. Thanks again.:)
Anytime!! It s the least i can do
King ❤
My rule is I can take whatever I want motorcycle camping as long as it fits in a SINGLE pannier.
That s a good tip!!! 🙂👍👍👍
Thank Paolo excellent work, finally rec commendations of good quality reasonably priced gear
Happy to help! Yeah, it doesn’t have to be expensive. But the mattress is very important
👍
Good trip 🙂
It was!
Looks great 😎✌🏻
Thanks 👍
Good drills, thanks for sharing
Glad you like them!
Awesome stuff enjoyed watching all your videos. That KTM goes anywhere even with cast wheels how good is that
Thanks mate! Yeah the bike has some crazy suspensions and with enough momentum will go on anything!! Thanks for stopping by and watching the vids
Excellent series my friend! Enjoyed every minute of it 😊
Thank you!!! 🙂🙏
Hi Paolo what recommendations for tools? you would laugh if you seen my sleeping bag now its time i switched to a Denali, thank you very much. Also how big is your fuel bag?
There s an incredible amount of tools you can carry. Ideally you just need what the oem toolkit comes with. But i used to carry a 32mm socket for my wheels as tensioning the chain is quite a frequent task to do. Aside from this you don’t really need much. You ll find tools everywhere and you are probably not going to take apart your engine in the middle of the desert. Fuel bag is 1 gallon but this is just because I wasn’t crossing big gaps with not fuel. Ideally the 2 gallon one is perfect as you can fill it up halfway and still be alright.
Grazie ancora! Si, forse avrei dovuto cambiare le gomme, ma le sospensioni di sta moto sono fuori dal normale. Funzionano meglio forse da carica che da scarica.
Loving you videos
Thank you! 🙂
Fantastic stuff
Aboriginal kids out that way are terrific. They have boundless energy.
Beautiful ride, bro!! Oh, the sky in 'Stralia is just awesome
Really good job with the videos. Love the tri-view theme too. Far out!
Thank you very much! I think it kind of works too
Im not on instagram anymore so I appreciate being able to still follow your journey on UA-cam! Thank you!
You are welcome! And thanks for tagging along!
Fantastic trip! New suscriber! Same bike btw!
Thanks for the sub! And the bike is great for sure!
Nice😃
Awesome video mate! Brings back some memories from some of the places I've ridden through. I agree 100% on the tyre pressures. Laughed my head off with the banana 🙂 Space invaders!!!! Looking forward to the next episode Paolo! 🙂
Thanks mate!! The last one is going to be shorter. Not much left once hitting the east coast…
That face 😂😊❤❤❤❤❤
Glad you made it back on the road after surgery. I want one those "Straya" shirts. lol 😂
Ahah thanks! I m not sure where you could buy one of those but that 100% aussie humor
You did a great job on the dirt with those tyres!
People couldn’t believe me when they saw me rocking up with a fully loaded 1300cc bike with bald tyres. 😅 suspensions played a great role on this trip
congrat, a wise decission!
I found it a good distraction too.
Loved it mate! Looking forward to the next episode 👍
It s out already!
